HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team defeated Penn College, 2-1 on a foggy evening at Gibbel Stadium, Tuesday.
Fiona McDonald (Langhorne, Pa. / Neshaminy) netted both goals while Emma Moreland (Lebanon, Pa. / Cedar Crest) assisted on both in the Eagles win over the Wildcats.
In the 13th minute, Penn College scored their lone goal of the game to take the lead, 1-0. Five minutes later, Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Line Mountain) tried to even the score as she took a shot from the middle but it was put into the hands of the Penn College goalie. In the 35th minute, Moreland fired a shot from the upper left corner but it was saved by the goalie. A minute later, Talia Bertrando (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick High School) took a shot high but it was tipped by the Wildcats keeper. In the 40th minute, the Eagles tied up the score, after a Moreland shot bounced off the crossbar, McDonald then kicked in the ball to the lower right corner of the goal.

In the 59th minute, JC secured their 2-1 win over Penn College. After a corner kick taken by Moreland, McDonald headed in the ball to the goal.

Juniata held a 15-7 edge in shots and a slight 3-2 edge in corners over Penn College. Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek High School) made four saves in goal.
The Eagles travel to Drew for a conference game this Saturday at 4pm.
