HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback against visiting Penn State Altoona, Wednesday evening at Gibbel Stadium.

Fourteen minutes into the game, the Lions scored from about 18 yards out on a high arching shot that went over the fingertips of Cati Besch (Bellefonte, Pa. / Bellefonte Area HS).

The Lions continued to put pressure on the Eagle defense, and in the 31st minute, they struck again to double their lead.

The Eagles went into the break down 2-0.

Two and a half minutes into the second, Emma Moreland (Lebanon, Pa. / Cedar Crest) bent in a free-kick from the right side over the keeper to make it 2-1.

The Eagles pushed ahead, looking for an equalizer as Sydney Riegel (Centre Hall, Pa. / Penns Valley), Brooke Emge (Waynesboro, Pa. / Shalom Christian Academy), Moreland, Fiona McDonald (Langhorne, Pa. / Neshaminy) and Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Line Mountain) all put shots on frame that the PSU Altoona keeper was forced to stop over the next 15 minutes.

In the final few minutes, JC was still looking to equalize and wound up getting burned on the counter as the Lions pushed their lead to two via a breakaway goal to seal the game in the 89th minute.

The Eagles will play host SUNY Brockport, Saturday at 2:00.
