Women's Soccer Draws, 1-1 with Chatham

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team walked away with a 1-1 against Chatham University, Tuesday. 

Fifteen minutes into the first half, the Eagles took their first shot of the game. Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa. / Line Mountain) shot from the top left of the box but the shot was saved by the Chatham goalie. A few minutes later, the Eagles had another shot at a goal as Brooke Emge (Waynesboro, Pa. / Shalom Christian Academy) took a shot but it went wide to the right. With about 15 minutes left in the first half, Chatham scored their only goal of the game. 

In the 66th minute of the game, Juniata scored their lone goal of the game. Brooke Rotheram (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) assisted Emge on the goal as Emge shot the ball from the right and in to the bottom left of the net. Juniata took two more chances on goal with minutes left in the second half. 

The teams went through two overtimes, but neither team could find a winner as the teams remained even after 110 minutes.

Chatham held a 25-7 edge in shots and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks. Cati Besch (Bellefonte, Pa. / Bellefonte Area HS) made 11 saves in the goal for Juniata. 

Juniata returns to action this Friday, September 6th at 7:30pm for a non-conference game against Chatham.
