HUNTINGDON, Pa.-The Juniata women's soccer team defeated the visiting Pitt.-Greensburg Bobcats 2-0 and the weather on a warm Tuesday evening at Gibbel Stadium. The teams had to wait almost half an hour as the field was cleared due to lightning delays.
Juniata looked dangerous early as four minutes in, Brooke Rotheram (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) played a defense-splitting through ball to a sprinting Wynter Adams (Houtzdale, Pa./Moshannon Valley), but the keeper got there just before Adams.
A few minutes later it appeared that Rotheram had given JC an early 1-0 lead, but she was called offsides.
In the 26thminute, Amanda Kopacz (Green Brook, N.J./Mount Saint Mary Academy) got to a loose ball just outside the box and ripped a shot towards net but the Bobcat defense blocked the effort. Six minutes later, JC had their breakthrough.
Brooke Emge (Waynesboro, Pa./Shalom Christian Academy) played a ball through the teeth of the Bobcat defense from the left wing into the box. Caroline Braas (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) got to it first, took a touch and fired it into the left side of the goal to make it 1-0.

Juniata went into the half ahead, 1-0. JC held a 7-3 edge in shots and a 4-1 edge in corners.
Five minutes into the second half, Juniata fouled a Bobcat defender in the box and the ref pointed to the spot. Kristin Racis (Womelsdorf, Pa./Conrad Weiser) went to her right and pushed the ball away to preserve the Eagle lead.

In the 67th minute, Adams blasted a shot towards the near post that the keeper parried. Emge got their first and poked the ball back into the net to double the lead.

With 6:08 on the clock, the teams cleared the field because of lightning. When the teams returned, the Bobcats managed three shots in the final four minutes. Racis denied one, the second came caroming off the post and the final shot was blocked.
Racis picked up her first shutout as a goalie while Emge had her first career goal.
Juniata will host Goucher in Landmark Conference action, Saturday at 4:00.
