Blue Jays Takedown Eagles in Battle of the Birds

Juniata women's soccer player Kristin Racis

MANHEIM, Pa. – The Juniata women's soccer team conceded four second half goals as they fell, 4-0, to Elizabethtown at the MT Athletic Complex, Saturday afternoon.

Kristin Racis (Womelsdorf, Pa./Conrad Weiser), making her first start in goal, was busy early as she made two saves in the first nine minutes, while the Eagle defense blocked two more. Two other Blue Jay shots were wide of the target.

Elizabethtown controlled the run of play in the first half as they held a 13-0 edge in shots. Racis made six stops by the intermission.

An eleven-minute stretch early the second half, beginning in the 51st minute, doomed the Eagles. Reigning Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year, forward Lydia Lawson struck for three goals as she helped the Blue Jays take complete control of the game.

Wynter Adams (Houtzdale, Pa./Moshannon Valley) and Meadow Walshaw-Wertz (Sunbury, Pa./Line Mountain) both tested the Etown keeper in the second half but were denied getting JC on the scoresheet.

Elizabethtown tallied one more in the 74th minute to make it 4-0.

Racis made 13 saves in her first career start in goal.

Juniata will host Pitt. Greensburg, Tuesday at 6:00.
