Eagles Drop 4-1 at Penn St.-Altoona

Amanda Kopacz assisted by Kristin Racis recorded the lone goal for the Eagles.

ALTOONA, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team fell, 4-1 at Penn St.-Altoona, Wednesday evening.

Amanda Kopacz (Green Brook, N.J. / Mount Saint Mary Academy) scored the Eagles lone goal and she was assisted by Kristin Racis (Womelsdorf, Pa. / Conrad Weiser). Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek High School) had two saves in the goal for Juniata. 

Penn St.-Altoona struck early and got a 2-0 lead at halftime. Five minutes into the first half the Lions scored off a corner kick. About four minutes later, the Lions scored their second goal of the game. 

In the second half in the 47th minute, the Eagles started off strong with a goal of their own. After a free kick into the box by Racis, Kopacz tapped in the ball for an Eagle goal. Seven minutes later, Penn St.-Altoona scored again to extend their lead. In the 67th minuted, the Lions scored their final goal with a shot in the bottom right of the cage. 

Juniata out shot Penn St.-Altoona 21-10 and held an edge on the Lions in corners, 9-3. 

The Eagles return to action, Saturday September 22nd at 4:00PM at home as they open conference play against Moravian.
