Eagles Fall to Blue Jays On Senior Day

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team fell to Elizabethtown, 2-0, on Senior Day at Gibbel Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles best opportunity in the first half came when Jessica Zavadak (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) played a ball through the Blue Jay defense that Brooke Rotheram (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) ran onto. She took a touch to get to the 18 and fired, but the keeper managed to stop it. The Blue Jays scored in the ninth and the 29th minute as they went into half time ahead 2-0.

Seven minutes into the second half, Wynter Adams (Houtzdale, Pa./Moshannon Valley) fired a ball from the right side of the box towards the near post, but the keeper saved it. Later, in the 68th minute, Rotheram ripped a shot from 25 yards out from the right side, but it went over the crossbar. Eight minutes later, Aubrie Christensen (Suwanee, Ga./Manheim Township) fired from the left side of the 18, but it went wide right.

The Blue Jays held a 11-5 edge in shots and a 8-4 edge in corners.

Juniata finishes the year 10-8.
