Women’s Soccer Defeats Southern Vermont 1-0

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata women's soccer team defeated Southern Vermont College in a 1-0 victory for the team's second win of the weekend.

What Happened: The Eagles held a 15-0 shot advantage in the first half alone but could not seem to find the back of net.  Senior Carly Altenberg (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) just narrowly missed a shot from outside the box before junior Wynter Adams (Houtzdale, Pa./Moshannon Valley) scored her first career goal off an assist from senior Aubrie Christensen (Suwanee, GA/Manheim Township) to put the team up 1-0 46 minutes into the game. The goal would be Juniata's only for the day.

The Mountaineers did not give up through the entirety of the game, putting forth a fast and furious push in the last 30 seconds of the second half. Juniata was able to hang onto their lead, securing the victory.

Altenberg led the Eagles with four shots on goal, followed by Adams, Maggie Pozenel (Croton-on-Hudson, NY/Croton-Harmon), and Amanda Kopacz (Green Brook, NJ/Mount Saint Mary Academy) with two.

Juniata finished the game with a 27-0 advantage in shots.

Looking Ahead: The Eagles will travel to Hood on Wednesday, Sept. 6 before returning home on Saturday, Sept. 9 to face King's College at 5:00pm at Gibbel Stadium.
