HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata women's soccer team won in thrilling fashion, 2-1, behind Aubrie Christensen's (Suwanee, GA/Manheim Township) OT winner against Waynesburg, Friday evening at Gibbel Stadium in Huntingdon, Pa.
What Happened: The Yellow Jackets struck first, scoring in the 29th minute.
It was a tale of two halves, with Waynesburg controlling most of the first half. Juniata made some changes at halftime and quickly found an equalizer.
Nine minutes into the second half, Christensen scored off a feed from Carly Altenberg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape HS) to tie things up.
Both teams had their chances in the second half, but neither team could find a winner, so overtime was needed. Five minutes into overtime, Maggie Pozenel (Croton-on Hudson/Croton-Hudson), found Christensen to give the Eagles their first win of the season.
Between the Posts: Kerry Leonard (Cockysville, Md. /Maryvale Prep) made two saves in the game while the Yellow Jackets goalkeeper made six stops.
Looking Ahead: The Eagles will host Southern Vermont, tomorrow at 6:30 at Gibbel Stadium.
