Eagles Shut Out in Last Game of 2016

THE STORY: The Eagles traveled to Elizabethtown on Oct. 29 for their final game of the 2016 season. Elizabethtown kept Juniata scoreless to win it 5-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blue Jays took an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the eighth minute of play, beating goalkeeper Erin Mueller (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) high. Juniata's Caroline Braas (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) took an on-target, but saved, shot in the 10th minute following the E-town goal. The Blue Jays then regained control and took four shots until one got passed the defense in the 32nd minute and again in the 35th. To close out the first half, Wynter Adams (Houtzdale, Pa./Moshannon Valley), Devin Kos (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) and Rebecca Hingley (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) each took shots, yet none were successful.

The Blue Jays extended their 3-0 lead after the half with two more goals, as Juniata took three shots.

INSIDE THE BOX: Juniata took seven shots throughout the contest. Kos attempted to capitalize on two shot opportunities, leading the offense. Elizabethtown marked eight shots in the first half and nine in the second to total 17 overall shots, 11 of which were on goal.

BETWEEN THE POSTS: Senior goalkeeper Mueller, facing 11 on-target shots, saved six in her 90 minutes in the net.

THE RECORD: Juniata finished the season with a record of 4-9-3 and a .344 win percentage. Within the conference, they were 0-7. The women scored 18 goals throughout the season. Anna Kauffman (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) led with six goals; Aubrie Christensen (Suwanee, Ga./Manheim Township) and Kos followed with three goals each.
