Drew Scores in Last Minute to Beat JC 2-1

THE STORY: Despite Anna Kauffman's sixth goal of the season, Juniata fell to conference-rival Drew in a well-played 2-1 match on Saturday, Oct. 8.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Eagles limited the Rangers' scoring opportunities completely, outshooting them 4-0 until the 21st minute. Drew University broke their four-game scoreless streak on a header shot off of a corner kick. Juniata retaliated quickly, scoring in the 27th minute. Kauffman (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area), assisted by Aubrie Christensen (Suwannee, Ga./Manheim Township), shot on an open net from the far right wing to tie the game at one.

Juniata came out strong in the second half, outshooting the Rangers 8-1. With one minute left in the game, Drew worked through the Eagles' otherwise strong defense to score the game-winner.

BOX SCORE COMPARISON: Juniata held the Rangers to five scoring opportunities, while taking 15 themselves. The Eagles took seven shots in the first half and eight in the second. Kauffman led the offense with five shots, two on goal. Christensen, Caroline Braas (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and Alexis Ulrich (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) followed with two shots each.

BETWEEN THE POSTS: Senior Erin Mueller (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) recorded one save on three shots on goal during her 90 minutes in the net.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Juniata faces conference-rival Susquehanna at home on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
