Kos Scores, Juniata Ties York (Pa.) 1-1

THE STORY: The Juniata Eagles and York College (Pa.) Spartans ended in a 1-1 tie after a double overtime game on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Gibbel Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED: York College struck first, sneaking one passed senior goalkeeper Erin Mueller (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) in the 48th minute. The Eagles regained momentum and tied the game up at one when Devin Kos (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) netted the ball in the top, right corner on a penalty kick in the 65th minute.

OVERTIME PLAY: The Spartans and the Eagles ended in a tie after two, evenly played overtimes. Wynter Adams (Houtzdale, Pa./Moshannon Valley) got off the only shot for Juniata in overtime, while York had two shot attempts. In the last three minutes of the second overtime, the Eagles took two corner kicks. Head coach Scott McKenzie said, "We brought a lot of good energy tonight, including in both overtimes."

The last time out, Juniata ended in a tie against Westminster (Pa.) on Saturday, Sept. 17.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCE: In goal, Mueller recorded a career-high nine saves in her 67 minutes of play. She shut down the Spartan offense, especially toward the end of the second half. She kept three balls out of the net within five minutes, keeping the game tied.

THE RECORD: Juniata currently sits at 3-2-2 as they head into conference play.

WHO'S NEXT?: The Eagles will play their first conference game against Goucher at home on Saturday, Sept. 24. Before the women's 1:00 p.m. game, Juniata College will dedicate Gibbel Stadium.
