Women's Soccer Announces Incoming Freshman Class

HUNTINGDON, PA- The Juniata women's soccer team welcomes seven incoming freshman for the 2016 season. These players will look to make an impact on the field for the Eagles as they compete for a Landmark Conference title.

 

Samantha Bromley (Windber, Pa./Forest Hills)

 

Bromley was a four-year letter winner at Forest Hills at the midfield position. She also earned a letter in track and volleyball. She was a captain in her junior and senior years. Bromley was named to the Laurel Highlands All-Conference Team in 2015 and was a member of the Santa Fund Classic All-Star Team. Her team was District V and VI Champions in 2012.

 

"Sam is a versatile player that can be used on either the left or right side," commented head coach Scott McKenzie. "She has a high soccer IQ and we are looking forward to working with her."

 

Hannah Fischer (Lebanon, Pa./Annville-Cleona)

 

Fischer was a three-sport athlete at Annville-Cleona. She earned four letters in both soccer and softball and three letters in basketball. She was named to the Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star Second Team. "Hannah is a natural athlete and a very accomplished defender that has helped Annville-Cleona redefine their soccer success," said McKenzie.

 

Lydia Gladfelter (York, Pa./Central York)

 

Gladfelter was a midfield/forward at Central York for four years. Her team was YAIAA Champions in both 2014 and 2015.

 

"Lydia comes to Juniata from an outstanding high school program at Central York and a great HMMS Eagles club team," noted McKenzie. "She has been coached very well and will be a valuable member of this incoming class."

 

Julie Reighard (Altoona, Pa./Altoona)

 

Reighard was a four-year letter winner at Altoona. She was an Altoona Mirror First Team All-Star. "She was a key component in the Lady Lions' resurgence in 2015," stated McKenzie. "A strong and fearless defender who helped her team reach the District VI AAA title game.

 

Brooke Rotheram (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East)

 

Rotheram played central midfield for three years at Central Dauphin East. She earned First Team All-Star Commonwealth Division honors in her sophomore season. Rotheram was also a Keystone Division First Team All-Star in her junior and senior campaigns and was a team captain both times. She earned the Most Valuable Player award in her senior year. Her club team the Hershey FC Crush was an EPYSA NCS state cup finalist in 2015.

 

"Brooke is a high skill, high energy player that can make an immediate impact on a game or situation," said McKenzie. "She can give defenders fits!"

 

Bridget Shea (Garden City, NY/Garden City)

 

Shea played for the N.Y. Extreme FC, which was a nationally ranked travel soccer club. For the past two summers, she played for the N.Y. Barrage in the top division of the Long Island Women's Soccer League. Her high school team were Nassau County Champions in 2015. "Bridget is an extremely versatile player who can make an impact anywhere on the field," said McKenzie.

 

Alexis Ulrich (Middletown, Pa./Middletown)

 

Ulrich earned four letters playing forward and midfield at Middletown. She was a Mid-Penn Conference Capital Division First Team All-Star in her junior and senior years. In her senior year, Ulrich was named a Penn Live First Team All Star and was a Penn Live Most Dangerous Scorer nominee.

 

"Alexis is an impact player with terrific pace and great intelligence," noted McKenzie. "She can be dangerous in many ways."

 

Juniata begins its season on September 1 when it plays at Waynesburg. The Eagles' home opener at the newly constructed Gibbel Stadium will be September 7 against Pitt-Bradford.
