Late Strikes from Gophers End in Eagles Defeat

TOWSON, MD – The Juniata women's soccer team and Goucher fought to a scoreless first half, but the Gophers scored two goals late in the game to take a 2-0 victory Saturday afternoon. 

The Gophers held the advantage in the first half. They outshot Juniata 10-3 and recorded a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks. 

Shannon Kriz (Breinigsville, PA / Parkland) was solid between the posts for Juniata. Kriz finished the game with nine saves and two goals allowed. 

In the second half, Juniata's offense found their rhythm and would match Goucher at seven shots. 

Aubrie Christensen (Litiz, PA / Manheim Township) and Jessica Zavadak (Lebanon, PA / Cedar Crest) each took two shots on goal for the Eagles. 

Goucher finished the game with a 17-10 advantage in total shots, 11-8 advantage in shots on goal and a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks. 

Juniata plays their final road game of the regular season Wed. Oct. 28 at Pitt.-Greensburg. The Eagles and Panthers kick off at 3pm.
