HUNTINGDON, PA – The Juniata women's soccer team (5-8-1, 1-4 Landmark) fell 1-2 in Landmark Conference play to the Elizabethtown Blue Jays (9-4-1, 4-1 Landmark).
The Blue Jays took the lead midway through the first half when Katrina Morales took the rebound on a blocked shot to the back of the net.
Juniata responded with a goal of its own ten minutes later when Devin Kos (Bellefonte, PA / Bellefonte Area) found Aubrie Christensen (Litiz, PA / Manheim Township) for the equalizer.
The Eagles carried the momentum throughout the remainder of the half and finished with a 6-4 advantage in shots. The conference foes were notched at one corner kick a piece.
Elizabethtown got ahead early in the second half on a goal from Lauren Fredericks in the 56th minute mark.
Juniata pushed to get another equalizer but the Blue Jays' defense held strong.
Kerry Leonard (Cockeysville, MD / Maryvale Prep) made a huge save for the Eagles with 13 minutes to play in the game to keep the Eagles within a goal. Leonard crossed the post and stopped the ball after it rebounded off the post. Leonard finished the game with five saves.
Elizabethtown finished with an 11-9 advantage in total shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Up next for Juniata are the Gophers from Goucher. The Landmark match is scheduled to kickoff at 3:30pm Sat. Oct. 24.
