Women’s Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie with Scranton

SCRANTON, PA- Despite being outshot 18-4 in the game, the Juniata women's soccer team's defense held firm as the Eagles and Scranton Royals played to a 0-0 tie on Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Field. JC's record now stands at 4-5-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the Landmark Conference while the Royals are 5-4-2 and also 1-0-1 in the conference.

 

Goalkeeper Kerry Leonard (Cockeysville, MD/Maryvale Prep) was outstanding in goal as she had six saves for her third straight shutout and fifth of the season. Her counterpart for Scranton, Krissy Welsh, had just one save.

 

Lauren Liacouras (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley), Rebecca Hingley (West Chester, PA/West Chester East), Michaela Lacek (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern), and Shayna King (Easton, PA/Easton Area) all registered one shot each for Juniata.  King had the team's only shot on goal.

 

The Royals had eight corners in the contest while the Eagles did not have any. JC had 10 fouls to Scranton's six.

 

Juniata returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Moravian at Winton Hill Field. Game time is at 3:30 p.m.
