WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team brushed aside Lycoming College, 22-7, to move to 5-1 in Landmark Conference play Wednesday evening at UPMC Field.
Grace Gibbs led the way with eight goals and five draw controls, while Kyndall Yeager contributed five goals, three assists, one ground ball, two draw controls, and a caused turnover. Skyler Stevens had three goals and two assists, while Peyton Goodrich totaled three goals, one assist, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. Kelliann Drummond had two goals, two assists, and a ground ball, while Sarah Hepburn did a bit of everything with a goal, a ground ball, a draw control, and a caused turnover. Tess Ledeboer had three caused turnovers, eight draw controls, and four ground balls, while Maeve Kuser had five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Caoilinn Heatley made one save in goal.
Yeager opened the game with two goals in the first minute and a half that she scored 21 seconds apart, with Stevens providing the assist on both goals. Yeager returned the favor as she found Stevens for a third before she found Gibbs to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead. The Warriors got one back before Gibbs scored three goals, and Goodrich added her name to the scoresheet to make it 8-2. In the first 10 minutes of the game. Lycoming added a second, and Drummond found Stevens for her second goal of the day as JC led 9-2 after one.
In the second quarter, Gibbs scored nine seconds in, and Lycoming added the next two before Yeager and Gibbs got two back to make it 12-4 Juniata at the half.
The Eagles blew the game open in the third as they scored all six in the quarter and led 18-4 heading into the final frame.
JC didn't let up, winning the final quarter 4-3 and the game 22-7.
The Eagles outshot the Warriors 43-13.
Juniata will travel to take on The Catholic University of America on Saturday at 1:00.
