Big Second Half Pushes River Hawks Past Eagles

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team fell, 17-5 at Susquehanna University in a Landmark Conference matchup, today.

Susquehanna scored the first two goals. With 17 min left in the first half, Paige Riker (Sussex, N.J. / Vernon Township) cut the River Hawks lead. Aspen Handel (Richboro, Pa. / Bucks County) had the assist on the goal. About a minute later, Michaela Naccarini (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill H.S.) tied the game at 2-2. The River Hawks scored four more goals in the half before Talia Bertrando (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) scored with 22 seconds left in the half. 

Susquehanna started off the second half with a goal, leading 7-3. In the 20th minute, Grace Gibbs (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck HS) scored on a free position shot. In the next ten minutes, Susquehanna tacked on ten more goals to lead, 17-4. With four minutes left in the game, Bertrando scored the Eagles final goal with an assist from Handel. 

With Bertrando's first goal of the game, she becomes the first Juniata women's lacrosse player to record 100 career points. 

This Saturday, April 10th at 2:00PM, the Eagles will host Catholic. The team will be dedicating the game to the mission of the One Love Foundation.
