HUNTINGDON, Pa.-The Juniata women's lacrosse team lost to visiting #20 University of Scranton, 17-3, Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.

Scranton scored a minute and half in, but the Eagle defense stymied the Royal attack over the next several minutes. Arielle Danchenko (Palm City, Fla. / South Fork) scored on a free position shot eight minutes later to tie things up at 1-1.

Scranton took control from there as they found their feet on offense, scoring 10 goals in nine minutes to go up 10-1. They tacked on three more before the halftime horn sounded as they led 13-1 at halftime.

Scranton scored less than two minutes into the second half to make it 14-1 on an fps. Neither team scored for the next 15 minutes as the defenses held strong before Talia Bertrando (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) fired a shot pass the Royal keeper. With a little under nine minutes to go Bertrando beat the keeper again to make it 14-3. Scranton scored three times in the final six minutes to complete the score line.

The Royals held a 13-9 advantage in draw controls and committed seven fewer turnovers.

The Eagles will return to action at home against Chatham, Wednesday at 7:00.
