Matt Baer began his tenure as the golf coach at Juniata College in 2017-18 as men’s golf made a return to Juniata after a 23 year hiatus and women’s golf was added for the first time. 

Matt has had a successful golf career after graduating from West Chester University with a degree in Education. He won four club titles at the Mount Union American Legion Country club in 2009, 2014, 2015 and 2016. He was the runner up in 2010, 2013, and 2017 while being the Huntingdon County Open champion in 2014. He also has a runner up finish in 2016 for the Sinking Valley Country Club title.  

In 2016, Baer won the prestigious Central Counties Individual Tournament title along with the Sinking Valley Two-Ball Invitational. He qualified for the Pennsylvania Open in 2014 and was a state Mid-Amateur qualifier in 2013. Baer won the Huntingdon Country Club Two-Ball Tournament in 2010 and was the 2006 Great Cove Match Play champion.

Matt had a successful high school golf career as well as he was the co-op player at Mount Union and District Six Class AA qualifier.

Not just a golfer, he had an illustrious career at West Chester University as a baseball player. He holds numerous hitting records for the Golden Rams and won a National Championship in 2012. Over his four years, the program had a record of 153-57, the best four-year stretch in program history.

Matt was inducted into the Huntingdon County Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 for his stellar play over his career at Southern Huntingdon High School and West Chester University. 

Matt lives with his wife, Gillian, in Huntingdon with their dog Sam.
