Eagles Eclipsed by Hot Shooting River Hawks

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's basketball team lost to visiting Susquehanna University, 80-48, Wednesday inside Memorial Gymnasium.

Bri Bodtorf led the Eagles with a career-high 19 points, two rebounds, and a steal, while Sarah Betts added seven points, six rebounds, and a steal.

After a River Hawk jumper, on the other end, Bodtorf drove from the right side down the middle of the paint, held her defender off with her right arm, and laid the ball in off the glass with her left as the shot clock was winding down.

SU scored ten straight over the next four minutes before Steph Emert found Kynnedy Miller on the right wing for a three. After a stop Bodtorf converted a jumper to bring JC back within five with five minutes to go. The visitors took control from that point, closing the quarter on an 11-0 run as the Eagles trailed 23-7 after one.

The second quarter was closer, but the River Hawks outscored JC 15-8 in the quarter as the Eagles found themselves behind 38-15 at the half.

Juniata outscored SU in the third 23-20, as the teams traded buckets the whole way. But SU cruised through the fourth, winning it 22-10, as Juniata couldn't continue to score their way back into the game.

The Eagles will host Moravian for Senior Day on Saturday at 4:00.
