Eagles Grounded in the Garden State at Drew

MADISON, N.J.- The Juniata women's basketball team couldn't make up their first-half deficit as they fell on the road to the Drew Rangers, 66-47, on Saturday afternoon.

Haily Sherman had eight points, eight rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block while Kynnedy Miller totaled seven points, six rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Steph Emert had nine points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals off the bench.

Sherman got things started, going to work from the left block. She faced up her defender, took a dribble to her right, and laid it in. The Rangers responded with an 8-3 run before Laney Gerdich converted a pair of free throws.

Bri Bodtorf drove down the middle and kicked it to Sherman in the right corner, who drilled a three. Juniata trailed 20-15 after one.

The Eagles shot 27.3% in the second quarter, with three Bodtorf foul shots and an Emily McCann three the most points provided by an Eagle in the frame. Juniata trailed by 13 at the half, 40-27.

Juniata hung tough in the second half, as the Rangers outscored them narrowly, 26-20.

Drew held a tight 47-41 edge on the glass and had an advantage in points off turnovers, 21-8.

Juniata returns to action this Wednesday when they travel to take on #8 University of Catholic Wednesday at 6:00.
