#14 Royals Roll Past Eagles

SCRANTON, Pa.- The Juniata women's basketball team lost on the road to #14 University of Scranton, 74-38, on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals struck first on a jumper, and Kynnedy Miller found Haily Sherman for a layup on the other end to get the Eagles on the board. The Royals made another jumper, and Miller converted a layup. The teams continued to trade makes as Sherman converted two straight layups, with the second being assisted by Sarah Betts

A jumper from Emily McCann was the final point of the quarter for the Eagles, but the Royals added six more points in the final minutes of the quarter as Juniata trailed 17-10 after one.

It was a scoreless minute and thirty seconds to start the second before the Royals converted a three-pointer. Layups from Miller and Emma Coolidge were the only Eagle buckets in the first five minutes as Scranton expanded their lead to 13. A Sherman layup with two minutes to go made it 33-16, with the Royals adding seven more to close the half. Sherman made a three at the buzzer, which sent the Eagles into the locker room down 21, 40-19.

The Royals outscored the Eagles 34-19 in the second half to close the game.

JC returns to action on the road when they play at Elizabethtown on Wednesday at 7:00.
