Eagles Fall to #4 Royals

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata College women's basketball team lost to the #4 University of Scranton, 72-33, Saturday afternoon inside Memorial Gymnasium. 

Scranton scored the first 15 points of the game, with Laney Gerdich breaking the seal for the Eagles with a foul line jumper off a pass from the wing by Haily Sherman. Bri Bodtorf's tough layup in traffic was the other bucket for JC, as Scranton led 24-4. 

The Eagle offense found a rhythm in the second, as Sherman had five in the quarter, Berg and Bodtorf had four apiece, and Steph Emert added two off the bench as JC outscored Scranton 15-10. Juniata trailed 34-19 at the break. 

Scranton blew the game open in the third, scoring 27 to the Eagles six as they took complete control of the contest. 

The visitor's big second half saw them hold a 38-14 edge in scoring. 

Bodtorf led Juniata in scoring with nine points, while Sherman had eight points, seven rebounds, two steals and a block. Sarah Betts tallied four points, two rebounds, and an assist off the bench. 

The Eagles will return to action this Wednesday when they host Lebanon Valley in nonconference action, Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
