HUNTINGDON, Pa.-The Juniata women's basketball team hung with Moravian in the first half before they fell behind in the second half as they lost, 80-55, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium.

The Greyhounds surged ahead 8-0 in the opening minutes of the contest before Kaeana Rebert (Hanover, Pa. / South Western) found Madison Colyer (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) for a midrange jumper to get Juniata on the board. A minute later the Greyhounds turn an Eagle turnover into two points to make it 10-2 before Cassie Mock (Martinsburg, Pa. / Central Martinsburg) found Gracie Stauffer (Loysville, Pa. / West Perry) for a bucket inside. A Stauffer block on defense was corralled by Averie Hess (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore) and eventually ended up in a Mock triple to make it 10-7. Stauffer tossed the ball to Grace Long (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) for a layup which narrowed the deficit to one with a little over four minutes to go. Moravian scored the next eight points over a three-minute period to lead 18-9 before Mock setup Rebert for a tough layup inside while she was fouled. Following the foul shot the Eagles trailed by six. The score remained 18-12 at the end of the first period.

Moravian scored the first six points of the second inside of the opening two minutes and the Eagles took a timeout to regroup. Megan Haines (Bloomsburg, Pa. / Bloomsburg) kicked it to Rebert for another jumper and later found Colyer for a layup. A Colyer Jumper and a Stauffer foul shot made it 24-19 with just under five minutes to go in the half. Moravian converted a three to push their lead back to eight, but another Rebert midrange jumper and a Mock three made it 29-24. The Greyhounds scored eight of the next 10 points to go up by 11, 37-26 with a little less than two minutes to go. Mock drilled a three with 39 seconds to go, the Greyhounds responded with a jumper before Mock found Taylor Vrabel (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) for a layup right before the buzzer sounded. The Eagles trailed, 39-31, at the half.

Foul shots from Stauffer and Colyer were all the points the Eagles got in the opening four minutes while the Greyhounds struck for 13 to open up a 17-point lead. A difficult Stauffer layup off a pass from Long broke up the run for a moment, but Moravian kept coming as they pushed their lead all the way to 24 before a Mock layup off a Stauffer find. The Greyhounds wound up with a 67-42 lead by the end of the third and they cruised in the fourth to a win.

The Greyhounds scored 23 points off of Juniata turnovers.

Juniata returns to action at home against Catholic, Wednesday at 7:00.
