HUNTINGDON, Pa.- Women's basketball head coach Danny Young-Uhrich was named the Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year by D3hoops.com for leading the team to one of their best seasons in program history.
The Eagles went 23-6 on the year, including a program record 14 straight wins to open the year. Included in the streak was handing then #8 Scranton their only loss of the season. Juniata rose as high as #17 in the D3hoops.com rankings.
The Eagles eventually advanced to the Landmark Conference Championship game where they fell in overtime at Scranton. The Eagles received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated Piedmont College (Demorest, GA). They fell in the second round to #3 and Final-Four bound Thomas More College (Crestview Hills, KY).
It is Young-Uhrich's first all-region coaching nod while she has twice been named Landmark Coach of the Year.
