Instone Named Defensive Player of the Year, Two Eagles Named to Landmark All-Conference

TOWSON, Md.- Juniata women's basketball team standouts Dani Atkinson (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) and Morgan Instone (Johnstown, Pa./Bishop McCort) were named to the Landmark All-Conference Team. Atkinson was named First Team All-Conference while Instone was named Second Team All-Conference and Defensive Player of the Year.

The senior guard has started in 26 games for the Eagles and has totaled 852 minutes on the court this season. Atkinson is third in the Landmark Conference in scoring at 14.9 points per game and she is fourth in steals with 57. Atkinson leads the Eagles in assists with 56 and in three-pointers with 47. Earlier this season, Atkinson was named Landmark Athlete of the Week after the team took down #11 Scranton (12/02/18). She also scored her 1,000th career point against LaRoche College (12/18/17). 

Instone has started in 27 games for the Eagles and has totaled 627 minutes on the court this season. Instone is second on the team in points with 321 on the season. Instone also has a total of 205 rebounds and she is third in the Landmark Conference with 7.6 rebounds per game. Instone is fourth in the Landmark in field goal percentage and she's first in blocks with 64, which ties the Juniata single-season record. Instone was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week early in the season after the team defeated #11 ranked Scranton.

The Eagles will travel to Thomas More College for the first round of the NCAA tournament. They will play Piedmont on Friday at 5:00 PM.
