Huntingdon, Pa. – Juniata women's basketball was picked sixth in the 2016-17 Landmark Conference preseason poll after finishing with an overall record of 8-17 in the 2015-16 season.

Juniata received 19 points in the poll, placing them behind Scranton (70), Catholic (58), Susquehanna (42), Moravian (36) and Elizabethtown (24). The Eagles sit ahead of Goucher and Drew, both of which they defeated on their way to marking a 3-13 record in conference play.

The women's 11 returners include seniors Katy Leamer (Altoona, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) and Sarah Sherman (Lansdale, Pa./Methacton). Leamer played every game at forward during her junior year and averaged 8.6 points per game. She reached a season-high 26 points against Susquehanna on Feb. 3 and a season-high 11 rebounds against Catholic on Jan. 20. Sherman played in 20 games for the Eagles last season at guard, averaging 2.3 points per game.
