Leamer Records Double-Double as Eagles Fall to Catholic 85-65

WASHINGTON, DC- Despite outscoring the Cardinals 18-15 in the fourth quarter, the Juniata women's basketball team was defeated by Catholic 85-65 Wednesday night.

Juniata's bench players paved the way for the offense and totaled 36 points against Catholic.  Katy Leamer (Altoona, PA / Bellwood-Antis) recorded a team-leading 18 points and totaled 11 rebounds to earn her first double-double of the season.  Leamer also led the defense with three steals.

Following Leamer's strong effort was Bri Wasser (Ebensburg, PA / Central Cambria). Wasser recorded 13 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Bailey Swogger  (Tyrone, PA / Bellwood-Antis) and Natalie Hager (Franklin, PA / Franklin) each picked up eight points. Hager tacked on 10 rebounds and two assists. Swogger finished with five assists.

Overall, the Eagles finished with a 40.3 shooting percentage, 46 rebounds, 15 assists and six steals.

Turnovers became costly to Juniata down the stretch as Catholic put up 36 points off the opportunities.

The Cardinals were in the zone in front of their home crowd and finished the game with a 48.5 shooting percentage and a 16-19 effort from the foul line. Their success at the line was complemented by their ability to keep the Eagles off the line.

Juniata made the most of their opportunities and finished at 87.5 percent (7-8). Leamer went 3-3, while Wasser and Bethany Spencer (York, PA / York Suburban) went 2-2.

The Eagles look to shake off the conference loss when they return home this weekend to face Moravian at 4pm.
