HUNTINGDON, PA – The Juniata women's basketball team was defeated by the Drew Rangers 65-57 in Landmark Conference play Saturday evening.
Fouls plagued the Eagles throughout the game, allowing the Rangers to go 28-37 from the line.
"We can't send a team to the line that many times and expect to win a ballgame," head coach Danny Young-Uhrich said. "It limited our rotations in the first half and really disrupted a lot."
Juniata was led offensively by Rachael Anstine (York, PA / Dallastown) with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. She earned her first collegiate double-double against the Rangers.
Dani Atkinson (Lancaster, PA / Lancaster Catholic) followed with nine points and was the only Eagle to make a shot from beyond the three-point arch.
Bethany Spencer (York, PA / York Suburban) put up a strong defensive performance against the Rangers, finishing with seven rebounds, two steals and one block.
Rounding out the Eagles' offensive effort was Bailey Swogger (Tyrone, PA / Bellwood-Antis) with seven points and three assists.
Juniata finished with advantages in rebounds (44-43), points off turnovers (14-12), second chance points (16-5) and bench points (17-15).
Juniata continues conference play Tues. Jan. 5 in Maryland when they take on the Goucher Gophers at 7pm.
