Women's Basketball Defeated 69-48 by Griffins

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – A quick start from the Juniata women's basketball team gave the Eagles a 15-11 lead after the first quarter, but the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins went on to take the victory 69-48 Wednesday night.

Kelly Leamer (Altoona, PA / Bellwood-Antis) recorded 11 points off the bench to lead the offense. Natalie Hager (Franklin, PA / Franklin) followed with nine points, while picking up nine rebounds and six steals. Dani Atkinson (Lancaster, PA / Lancaster Catholic) rounded out the offensive effort for the Eagles with eight points and three assists.

The Eagles finished with a 64.7 free throw percentage, going 11-17 on the night. They recorded 41 rebounds and totaled 26 points off the bench. Juniata forced the Griffins to turnover the ball 19 times but were only able to produce 14 points off turnovers.

Juniata's next game is Sat. Dec. 19 against the Delaware Valley Aggies at noon in Memorial Gym. The game is the first of four straight home games for the Eagles.
