ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – Following an impressive first quarter performance, the Elizabethtown Blue Jays defeated the Juniata women's basketball team 66-47 Wednesday night.
Elizabethtown finished the first quarter with a 21-9 lead and despite a resilient effort from the Eagles, never led by less than nine points.
Juniata finished with a 39-36 advantage in rebounds, 10-5 in second chance points and 17-12 in points off the bench. The Eagles finished the game with a 32.1 shooting percentage, led by a 7-13 effort from behind the line.
Maria Photiades (Abottstown, PA / Delone Catholic) finished the game with 14 points and five steals. Dani Atkinson (Lancaster, PA / Lancaster Catholic) followed with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Kelly Leamer (Altoona, PA / Bellwood) finished with 10 points off the bench, while Katy Leamer (Altoona, PA / Bellwood) recorded eight rebounds.
Landmark Conference play continues this weekend with a men's and women's doubleheader against the Scranton Royals. The women are set to tip-off at 4pm.
