WASHINGTON, D.C., Juniata College women's basketball team rallied late, but could not pull off the comeback, falling 69-50 at Catholic on Wednesday night. A shaky start and an early 14-point Catholic advantage proved too much to overcome against the number two seed in the Lanmdark Conference.

Katy Leamer (Bellwood, PA / Bellwood-Antis) led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds. Senior Kelsey Livoti (Altoona, PA / Archbishop Guifoyle) scored 14-points and pulled in seven boards. She is just 15-points shy of 1,000 in her career.

The Eagles trailed by 11 points at the half, but slowly chipped away, pulling within five with 10 minutes left in regulation. After freshman Brianna Wasser (Ebensburg, PA / Central Cambria) drained a jumper, a layup form Olivia Halfpenny (McVeytown, PA / Mifflin County) made it a 46-41 game. However, the Cardinals followed with a 7-0 run and quickly built a 12-point lead. Despite their best efforts, the Eagles could not make up for their early mistakes and fell to 6-9 against Landmark Conference rivals. Though the team was down early, Juniata fought back in the second half, nearly tying the game agaisnt a strong opponent. Coach Danny young Uhrich liked her teams effort in the second half, "The girls played tough. We fought pretty tough in the second half, but could only get within five points. We just needed more focus and to make more plays in order to knock off the second place team on their home floor."

Juniata is now 8-16 this season. The Eagles will host Moravian in their final game of the season in game one of a men's and women's doubleheader against the Greyhounds. Tip-off from Memorial Gymnasium is 2 pm.
