Women’s Hoops Split Season Series With Conference Rival Merchant Marine

KINGS POINT, NY, Juniata College's women's basketball team fell to conference rival U.S.M.M.A 72-59 on Saturday. The loss drops the Eagles to 6-8 in the Landmark.

 

Sophomore Olivia Halfpenny (McVeytown, PA / Mifflin County) had a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds. Maria Photiades (Abottstown, PA / Delone Catholic HS) scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out two assists, and had two steals. Kelsey Livoti (Altoona, PA / Bishop Guilfoyle) and Natalie Hger (Franklin, PA / Franklin) each had eight points.

 

The Eagles trailed by two at the half, but tied the game 38-38 on a Hager three. The Mariners broke the tie and built a 10-point lead. Juniata chipped away, but could not overcome the second-half deficit.

 

The Eagles are 8-15 on the season. The team will play Catholic in DC on Wednesday the 18th. Juniata will return home to close out the season on the 21st against Moravian. The game against the Greyhounds will tip-off at 2 p.m.
