Juniata Falls 66-60 at Susquehanna Wednesday Night

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College women's basketball fell 66-60 Wednesday night on the road against Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action. The Eagles fell to 9-9 on the year, 2-5 in conference, while Susquehanna improved to 9-8, 3-4 in league.

 

Three Eagles finished in double-figure points with two picking up double-doubles.  Junior Kelsey Livoti (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) earned her first double-double of the season with a team-high 18 points and game-high 13 rebounds, followed by sophomore Paige Dennison (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) who earned 14 points, respectively.  Senior Kate McDonald  (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) earned her 13th double-double by dropping 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

 

Juniata had a dominant game down low, earning 32 points in the paint and grabbing a season-high 23 team offensive rebounds that led to 19 second chance points.

 

The Crusaders used a strong second half start and bolted to an 11-point lead, 39-28.  Juniata trailed by as many as 16 before cutting the deficit to 10 with 4:30 to play.  They continued to chip away, fighting off pushes by Susquehanna, but ran out of time before completing the comeback.

 

Juniata returns home this Saturday, Feb. 1 in a doubleheader with the men.  The Eagle women are celebrating 40 years of Juniata women's basketball along with their annual pink game to raise awareness of breast cancer in the region.  Survivors will receive free admission as well as a gift pack and will be recognized at halftime.  Fans in attendance will have a chance to win raffle and contest prizes.   All proceeds will go towards The Pennsylvania Pink Zone.  Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
