Basketball to Host ECAC Quarterfinal Wednesday Night

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata men and women's basketball teams will have at least one more home game this season as the Eagles play host to the quarterfinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conferences (ECAC) South regional tournament Wednesday, Feb. 27 in the Kennedy Sports+Recreation Center.  The women are seeded fourth and will face No. 5 seed Carnegie Mellon at 5:30 p.m. with the men, seeded third, facing No. 6 seed Medaille at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for seniors and children under 12 years of age.  Anyone with a valid college ID from a participating school will be admitted for free.

Women's Basketball vs. Carnegie Mellon, 5:30 p.m. • Championship Central
This will be only the seventh meeting of the two programs since first competing in 1987.  Carnegie Mellon leads the all-time series 4-2, but the teams have not met since the 2001-02 season.  The Tartans play out of the University Athletic Association and finished their regular season with a 13-12 record. Juniata (18-8) has won four of its last six games.  This will be the Eagles fifth-straight postseason appearance, second time in the ECAC Tournament.  They won the South Region in 2009 and bowed out in the semifinals in 2010.

Men's Basketball vs. Medaille, 7:30 p.m. • Championship Central
This will be the first time in Juniata's 108-year history that it will meet Medaille.  The programs each faced Mt. Aloysius and Pitt-Bradford this season.  Medaille went 2-1 against Mt. Aloysius and 1-0 against Pitt-Bradford.  The Eagles split, defeating Mt. Aloysius but falling to Pitt-Bradford.  Juniata is coming off the heels of a tough loss in the Landmark championship, but has won five of its last seven games.  They are 18-9 overall.  This will be their second straight postseason appearance.  Juniata lost in the South Region semifinal last year.  The Mavericks (18-10) compete out of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and fell 63-60 to Penn State-Behrend in a heartbreaker of their own in the conference championship.  They come into the game having won three of their last four.
