Juniata Downs Drew 73-53, Improves to 2-2 in Landmark Play

MADISON, N.J. – After dropping a close conference game to a nationally ranked opponent, the Juniata women's basketball team rebounded by downing Landmark Conference rival Drew University 73-53 on the road Saturday afternoon.  Juniata (11-4, 2-2 Landmark) had 12 steals and a season-high 51 rebounds in the win.  Drew dropped to 5-10, 1-3 in the conference with the loss.

 

Four Eagles finished in double-digits.  Senior Natalie Glinsky (Indiana, Pa./Indiana); juniors Jordan Hileman (Williamsburg, Pa./Williamsburg) and Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area); and sophomore Kelsey Livoti (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) each finished with 10 points, respectively.

 

McDonald had a game-high nine rebounds and four steals to go with her team-high four assists.  Livoti picked up a team-high four blocks.

 

The Eagles defense held Drew's leading scorer, Jennifer Mateo, to just nine points.  Courtney Stephens picked up the reigns and led the Rangers with 22 points and seven rebounds.

 

Juniata returns home this Wednesday, Jan. 16 to face Goucher College at 7 p.m.  They are undefeated (10-0) all-time against the Gophers.  Juniata has averaged a 16 point win margin at home in the series over Goucher.  The Eagles picked up the 75-49 home win when the programs last met on Feb. 11, 2012.
