HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata women's basketball team shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in overtime to pull ahead of Landmark Conference rival the University of Scranton, 65-61, Saturday afternoon in the Kennedy Sports+Recreation Center. As a team, the Eagles shot 90.5 percent from the free throw line in the win. They improved to 10-3 overall, 1-1 Landmark, while Scranton dropped to 9-3, 2-1 Landmark.
This was Juniata's sixth consecutive win over the Lady Royals and their first overtime game of the season. They are now 4-3 at home against Scranton under Head Coach Danny Young-Uhrich.
Senior Natalie Glinsky (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) led all scorers with a game-high 18 points in 36 minutes on the floor. Junior Jordan Hileman (Williamsburg, Pa./Williamsburg) scored 15 points of her own in a team-best 37 minutes on the court. She recorded a game-high four steals including the one that sealed the victory with 14 seconds remaining. The 5-6 guard also had a career-high two blocks.
Juniata hits the road next to face Catholic University on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. The programs have been meeting since 2000 with the Eagles leading the all-time series 9-3. This will be a rematch of last year's conference championship. The Cardinal upset the undefeated No. 1 seed to take the title. Juniata has not lost a regular season game to Catholic since 2010 and are 4-1 on the road against the Cardinal under Young-Uhrich. The last time the Eagles headed to D.C. the came away with the 70-60 win.
