WAYNE, Pa. – The Juniata women's basketball team improved to 6-1 Saturday afternoon after topping Eastern University 76-59 on the road. The Eagles, who are 5-1 on the road this season, scored 30 of their points off turnovers.
Junior Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) put up a team-high 19 points after spending just 21 minutes on the floor. She finished with four assists and a game-high three blocks. Sophomore Alix Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) was the only other Eagle in double-digits. She picked up a career-high 11 points after shooting 75-percent from the floor and going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
Eastern was led by Meghan Nowak who finished with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds.
The Eagles finally return home next Saturday, Dec. 15 after a four-game road stint. They will face Saint Vincent College in a 2 p.m. non-conference matchup. Juniata is 2-2 all-time against the Bearcats since the programs began competing in the 2009-10 season. Juniata came away with the 76-63 win on the road when the teams met last year.
