CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Coming off its first loss of the season, the Juniata women's basketball team rebounded on the road with a 73-60 win over DeSales University Wednesday afternoon.
Juniata (5-1) was led by junior Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.) who tied a career-high of 22 points and had eight rebounds in the win. She shot 53-percent from the floor and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Sophomore Alix Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) contributed off the bench for the Eagles, picking up a career-high 10 points after going 4-for-6 from the floor.
In her second straight double-digit performance, freshman Natalie Hager (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) tied her career-high of 10 points. She went 2-for-3 from 3-point range. Both Sellers and Hager did their damage in just 15 minutes each on the court. The Eagles bench posted 27 points in total.
Juniata scored 24 points off the Bulldogs 27 turnovers and made 12-of-13 free throws in the second half to secure the victory.
DeSales (3-4) saw three hit double-digits. The Bulldogs were led by Sondrine Glovas who finished with 20 points and eight rebounds.
Juniata has one more road game before heading home for the holidays. The Eagles travel to Eastern University on Saturday, Dec. 8 for a 1 p.m. tipoff. This will be the programs first meeting in history. Eastern has a 3-4 record this season and is 2-0 in the Freedom Conference. They are led by sophomore Meghan Nowak. The forward averages 18.4 points and 10.7 rebounds per game this year to lead the team in both categories.
