Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Juniata College women's basketball team defeated St. Vincent College, 68-64, in their first game of the season at the La Roche Tip Off Tournament. Junior Kate McDonald (Pa. Furnace, Pa./State College Area) started the season strong, finishing with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Two other Eagles picked up double-digits in points. Senior Jordan Speck (Huntingdon, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) led the team with 19 points, while senior Natalie Glinsky (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) finished with 10, respectively.
The Eagles out rebounded St. Vincent 42-26 and went a prefect 6–for-6 at the free throw line in the first half. They finished the day 21-for-22 from the charity stripe for a 95.5-percent average.
Juniata continues play at the tournament tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 17. They will take on Thiel College at 2 p.m. in the Kerr Fitness Center. Juniata hasn't faced Thiel since 1987. They trail the all-time series 2-1.
