Women’s basketball slides in USA Today/ESPN and D3hoops.com polls

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's basketball team fell to no. 14 in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Top 25 Coaches' poll and no. 15 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 rankings, released Tuesday.

The Eagles dropped due to a 79-69 loss to Catholic University of America for the Landmark Conference crown on February 25. However, Juniata (25-2, 14-0 Landmark) received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament and will host 1st/2nd round contests on March 2-3, 2012.

Juniata's downward movement in the D3hoops.com poll was the largest slide in the poll, as the Eagles earned 280 points. In the USA Today/ESPN rankings, the Eagles earned 101 points.

The Eagles are scheduled to play Castleton State College on Friday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. If the Eagles are victorious against the Spartans, Juniata will advance to the second round contest on March 3. Tip-off is schedule at Kenendy S+RC for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
