Women’s basketball jumps to No. 10 in D3hoops.com and USA Today/ESPN polls

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – With a 77-48 win over Susquehanna University the Juniata women's basketball team became the first basketball team in Juniata history to go undefeated in conference play, and they were dutifully awarded for it as the team jumped to No. 10 in both the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and the USA Today/ESPN Division III Top 25 Coaches' rankings.

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (21-4) was ranked 10th last week, but a loss to UW-Eau Claire dropped the Pointers to No. 14 on the USA Today/ESPN poll and to No. 12 on D3hoops.com, allowing the Eagles to move on up.

Additionally, previously No. 6 William Paterson (23-2) suffered a 69-68 loss to Stevens that put them behind the Eagles in the D3hoops.com rankings for the first time this season at No. 11. However, on the USA Today/ESPN poll William Paterson still remains one slot above Juniata at No. 9.

The Eagles, currently riding a 25-game winning streak against Landmark opponents, earned 379 points in the D3hoops.com poll and were dealt 129 points in the USA Today/ESPN rankings as Juniata extended its winning streak to 16 games with a 24-1 overall record.

Juniata hosts Moravian College on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7:00 p.m. for the 2012 Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Tournament semifinals at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
