Juniata women’s hoops ranked first in NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's basketball team was ranked the top team in the Mid-Atlantic Region, when the first round of regional rankings were released by the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Committee on Wednesday.

The Eagles sit atop the Mid-Atlantic Region with a 21-1 overall, 20-0 in regional games.

Lebanon Valley College was ranked second with a 19-2 overall mark, with all their games in-region.  King's College (18-3 overall, 17-2 in-region) was third, followed by Johns Hopkins University (19-2 overall, 17-2 in-region), Messiah College (16-4 overall, 15-3 in-region), and Muhlenberg (15-5 overall, 15-6 in-region).

The second round of regional rankings will be released on Wednesday, Feb. 15.  The regional rankings will eventually be used by the full NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Committee for selection to the tournament.

Juniata will host Catholic University of America, ranked sixth in the Atlantic Region, on Friday, Feb. 10, at 5:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center, followed by a home game against Goucher on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 2:00 p.m.
