Eagles Split Doubleheader at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Juniata Softball split a Friday evening doubleheader with Penn College, losing the first game 5-0 and winning the 2nd game 6-3. 

On the hill in game 1 for the Eagles was Maryn Swank who went three and a third innings giving up four hits, two earned runs and notching two strikeouts. 

In relief was Gracie Ruch who went two and two thirds, striking out three and giving up two hits with no runs given up. Dani Berlin, Jessie Hunt and Alison Superka had Juniata's three hits of the game. 

Game two was where everything came together for the Eagles. Penn College got on the board with a run in the 1st, until Juniata scored one run in the 2nd and two runs in the 4th and 5th to take the lead. The wildcats added in two runs at the bottom of the 7th but the Eagles were able to hold them off. 

Maddy Detz recorded her first career start and first career win in this contest, going five and a third, giving up one earned run and notching five strikeouts. 

In the batter's box, the Eagles put together 12 hits, with six different players scoring their six runs for the game. Reagan Goldsmith hit her first triple of the season in addition to home runs from Alison Superka and Morgan Brumbaugh

The Eagles will take a short break until their next home matchup with Wilson on Wednesday, March 12th at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
