Softball Splits with Susquehanna on Senior Day

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata softball team fell, 12-3 before defeating Susquehanna, 4-1 at West End Field on senior day.

Game one Juniata took an early 2-0 lead in the first. Alyssa "Sheddy" Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College) singled to the shortstop and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Catherine Miller (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) hit a home run to right field for two-RBI. In the top of the second, Susquehanna got on the board with a home run to left field. In the bottom of the second the Eagles extended their lead, 3-1. Maya McLeod (San Diego, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day School) singled down the right field line and advanced to second on a walk. Molly Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer Central) singled to left field to move along McLeod. A gound out to second allowed McLeod to run home. Susquehanna really got things going as they scored four in the third, three in the fourth, and four in the fifth as they defeated JC 12-3 in five innings. 

Miller went 1-3 with a home run and two RBI. McLeod went 1-2 with a run scored. 

In game two, the Eagles scored two runs in the third to go up 2-0. Ulrich singled to the shortstop. Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) doubled down the right field line to advance Ulrich. Ashley Clark (Saxton, Pa. / Tussey Mountain) doubled to right center for two-RBI. The Riverhawks got on the board in the top of the fourth to cut Juniata's lead, 2-1. In the bottom of the sixth, Miller reached on a fielder's choice. A double to center field from Maggie Peck (Philipsburg, Pa. / Philipsburg Osceola) advanced Miller. Amy Chen (Philadelphia, Pa. / Science Leadership Academy) reached first on an error by the second basewoman to bring home Peck and Miller for the 4-1 win over Susquehanna. 

Ebright went 1-2 with a double and a run scored. Peck went 1-3 with a double and a run scored. Clark went 1-2 with a double and two RBI. 

Juniata will travel to Moravian next Saturday, April 27th for a doubleheader starting at 1:00PM.
