Shedlock Records 100th Career Hit as Softball Splits with Dickinson

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata softball team defeated Dickinson, 9-7 before dropping game two, 6-2, Thursday afternoon at West End Field.

Juniata got on the board first, scoring three in the first inning. Alyssa "Sheddy" Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College) was walked then stole second. After a ground out to second, Shedlock advanced to third. An Ashley Clark (Saxton, Pa. / Tussey Mountain) single up the middle brought in Shedlock to score the Eagles first run of the game. Catherine Miller (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) singled up the middle for two RBI's. Dickinson tied things up in the third as they added three runs of their own. The Red Devils then tacked on a run in the fourth and one in the fifth to take the lead, 5-3. 

The Eagles got back at it in the bottom of the fifth as they tacked on six more runs to retake the lead, 9-5. Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) led things off with a single to the shortstop, Ebright then advanced to second on a passed ball. Clark homered to left center for two RBI's. Miller doubled down the left field line and advanced to third on a passed ball. After an Amy Chen (Philadelphia, Pa. / Science Leadership Academy) and Erin Pfeffer (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity High School) walk, Molly Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer Central) singled up the middle to bring home two Eagles. Shedlock also brought in two Eagles with a double to right field. Dickinson fought back in the sixth as they scored two more runs but it wasn't enough to defeat JC. 

Shedlock went 1-3 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI's as she recorded her 100th career hit. Clark went 3-4 with two runs scored, three RBI's and a home run. Miller went 2-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI's. 

Game two was a struggle offensively for the Eagles as they only managed four hits. Dickinson scored four runs in the second to start things off and they scored another one in the fourth. The bottom of the sixth was a stuggle for the Red Devil pitcher as she walked four Eagles. Maggie Peck (Philipsburg, Pa. / Philipsburg Osceola) was walked followed by a single to left field from Clark to advanced Peck. Miller was walked advancing both Clark and Peck. With the bases loaded, JC was walked once again. Juniata was down, 5-1 with the bases still loaded. After an Alyssa Fasolo (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area HS) walk, Juniata scored their final run of the game to fall, 6-2 against Dickinson. 

Juniata returns to action this Saturday as they travel to Catholic for a Landmark Conference doubleheader starting at 1:00PM.
