Softball Splits with Rangers

MADISON, N.J.- The Juniata softball team beat Drew University, 8-6 in game one of the Landmark Conference doubleheader before dropping game two, 10-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles got things started, scoring three runs in the first to take the lead on the Rangers. Alyssa "Sheddy" Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College) tripled to left center. Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) took a walk to first then stole second. Ashley Clark (Saxton, Pa. / Tussey Mountain) singled to third base advancing Ebright who scored on a throwing error by the third basewoman. Clark also sent Shedlock home. Catherine Miller (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) doubled to center field and Clark scored. Drew added a run in the bottom of the first to make the score, 3-1. 

Drew scored a run in the third to cut Juniata's lead, 3-2. Amy Chen (Philadelphia, Pa. / Science Leadership Academy) started off the fourth with a single to second base. Erin Pfeffer (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity High School) singled to left field and Chen advanced. Shedlock singled to right field, advancing Pfeffer and Chen. Ebright then singled, bringing in Chen. Maggie Peck (Philipsburg, Pa. / Philipsburg Osceola) doubled to left field and advanced to third for three RBI. After the fourth, Juniata led Drew, 7-2. 

Maya McLeod (San Diego, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day School) started off the inning hit by a pitch; she advanced to first. Pfeffer took a walk to first advancing McLeod. Pfeffer and McLeod then advanced on a wild pitch. A ground out to second base sent McLeod home. Drew tacked on three more runs in the fifth and one in the second but it wasn't enough to take the lead. Juniata took the first game, 8-6. 

Shedlock went 3-5 with a triple and two runs scored. Miller went 2-3 with a double and a RBI. 

Game two ended in five innings with the Rangers winning, 10-0. Drew scored one in the first, four in the third, and five in the fourth. 

The Eagles will host Dickinson, Tuesday April 4th starting at 3:00PM.
