Eagles Split on Final Day of The Spring Games

CLERMONT, Fla.- The Juniata softball team closed out their spring break trip with a loss to St. Lawrence, 4-2 and a win over MCLA, 4-3.

In game one against St. Lawrence, the Saints scored one in the first and three in the third to take a 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, Juniata cut St. Lawrence's lead in half by scoring two. Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) singled through the left side. With Ebright on first, Ashley Clark (Saxton, Pa. / Tussey Mountain) then hit a two run homer to left center field. Juniata fell, 4-2 to St. Lawrence. 

Juniata went on in their second game of the day to defeat MCLA, 4-3. The Eagles started off by taking a, 2-0 lead after the second. At the start of the second, Clark singled to left field. Maya McLeod (San Diego, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day School) then singled to left center, advancing Clark to second. Catherine Miller (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) singled to right center as she advanced McLeod and Clark. Natalie Krug (Northern Cambria, Pa. / Northern Cambria) singled down the left field line, advancing Miller and McLeod while Clark ran across home plate. After a ground out to second base, Krug and Miller advanced again, also allowing McLeod to score. 

MCLA then took the lead after scoring two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. With the Trailblazers up, 3-2 the Eagles sought to take the lead in the seventh. Miller singled to left center and Krug doubled to right field, advancing Miller. With two on base, Molly Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer Central) singled and then advanced to second on an error by the second basewoman. Ulrich advanced both Krug and Miller home. The Eagles defeated the Trailblazers in their final game of The Spring Games, 4-3. 

Juniata will travel to St. Vincent on Thursday, March 21st for a double header. First pitch is set for 11:00AM.
