Eagles Drop Two at The Spring Games

KISSIMMEE, Fla.- The Juniata softball team fell, 4-1 to Olivet and 5-2, to Mt. St. Vincent at the Fortune Road Complex in The Spring Games.

In game one against Olivet, the first inning was scoreless but the Eagles struck first in the second inning. Catherine Miller (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) homered to left center, earning the only Juniata run of the game. In the bottom of the second, Olivet tied it up at 1-1. The Comets went on to score one in the third and two in the fifth to win the game, 4-1. 

Game two, saw Mt. St. Vincent take the lead as they scored once in the third and once in the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth, the Eagles cut the Dolphins lead in half. At the start of the inning, Maggie Peck singled to second base. Ashley Clark (Saxton, Pa. / Tussey Mountain) then doubled down the left field line advancing Peck to third. After a ground out to the pitcher, Peck advanced across home plate. The next two innings were scoreless as Mt. St. Vincent led, 2-1. 

in the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles fought back to tie up the game, 2-2. Alyssa "Sheddy" Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College) advanced to first on a fielder's choice. A walk for Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) advanced Shedlock to second. With two outs, Peck then doubled down the left field line, advancing Ebright and allowing Shedlock to score. The game was forced into an eighth inning with the ball game tied, 2-2. The Dolphins scored three runs in the eighth to win the game, 5-2. 

Juniata will be back in action, Friday as they will take on Millsaps at 3:45PM and Salve Regina at 6:15PM.
